"Dream Song Tower" by San Antonio artist Cruz Ortiz serves as a welcoming gateway to the South San District. Located at the corner of IH 35 South and Zarzamora, the obelisk-shaped, teepee-like structure features the artist's signature typography and symbols. Cruz incorporated images based on Mexican American folklore. The artwork is a wry commentary on monuments and pays homage to San Antonio's history and urban myths. "Dream Song Tower" draws inspiration from the location and surrounding area. The 60-foot tall public art installation is a series of interlaced vertical and horizontal poles with text and symbols. The sculpture features kinetic components depicting flying birds and spinning stars that move with the wind. Landscaping, pedestrian walkways, and upward lighting enhance the experience for visitors of the site.
