Nationally-released film shot on location in San Antonio receives supplemental incentive from City of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (March 3, 2016) – The San Antonio Film Commission announces that the film, “The One I Wrote for You,” filmed on location in San Antonio, starring Cheyenne Jackson, Kevin Pollak, and featuring Christopher Lloyd, has met eligibility requirements to receive the City of San Antonio’s Supplemental San Antonio Incentive (SSAI). The incentive is a 2.5 percent award in addition to the incentive the film received from the State of Texas for filming in San Antonio.

The SSAI was established to assist in the attraction of film and television production to San Antonio. In order for a production to be eligible for the SSAI, at least 80 percent of the production shoot days must occur in the defined Greater San Antonio Metropolitan Area, the applicant must have a principal production office within the City limits, and the production must be a recipient of the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program award from the Texas Film Commission, in addition to other criteria guidelines. The SSAI helps encourage the use of San Antonio-based production and post-production services.

“The Supplemental San Antonio Incentive is another tool to make our city a more desirable production destination for filmmakers – locally and beyond,” said Galia Farber, San Antonio Film Commissioner. “This resource helps increase the level of film and television production, while showcasing the opportunities for filming available in San Antonio.”

“The One I Wrote for You,” a feature-length film released in 2014, tells the story of an aspiring singer-songwriter who competes in a reality television show that forces him to struggle between his dreams and the obligations of his family. The film was shot, edited, scored, mixed and mastered in San Antonio by veteran film professionals from various local companies including Geomedia and Keith Harter Music Studios.

David Kauffman, the writer and producer of the film and its songs, is a filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and founder of DoveNote Films, an independent film company in San Antonio. Fernando S. Cano, II, a San Antonian who has worked in the film industry for more than two decades, was a producer of the film. His other film credits include “Syriana,” “Selena,” Miss Congeniality,” and others.

“The One I Wrote for You” is currently in worldwide distribution through ARC Entertainment and Heritage Films International. The film’s debut release into Wal-Mart began in October 2015 and began airing on Showtime Network in February. The film is also available on STARZ Network, Netflix, Redbox, all streaming services and additional cable outlets.

The San Antonio Film Commission, a division of the City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development, has emerged as a go-to resource for filmmakers. As a full-service agency that promotes the art and craft of moviemaking in San Antonio, the film commission provides an array of services available to filmmakers including: location scouting, liaison services, permitting, crew and casting calls, and more. In 2015, San Antonio was listed as one of the “Top 10 Large Cities to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” by MovieMaker Magazine.
