Holiday Arts

holiday lights

From the tradition of tamale making (and eating) to fireworks in the middle of downtown, we like to celebrate the holiday season. With dazzling lights on the River Walk, around downtown and all over the city, it is a time to be inspired by the festive environment plus there are lots of amazing cultural and artistic events happening. These are just some of the many happenings to enjoy. Live Performances

This is the season to enjoy live performances and music all around. The San Antonio Symphony will be performing Holiday Pops. If you are wanting a seasonal classic, check out A Christmas Carol, A Musical at the Woodlawn Theatre. Kids will love Tiny Tim's Christmas Carol and A Charlie Brown Christmas at the Magik Theatre and Elf The Musical at the Public Theater of San Antonio.

Unique Shopping Opportunities

Finding the perfect gift won’t be a problem. Browse handmade treasures at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center's Hecho a Mano, the Esperanza Holiday Sale or the Christmas Market in Travis Park.

Plus, make sure to stop by local museum shops such as The DoSeum, Southwest School of Art, San Antonio Museum of Art and The Witte, just to name a few. Put La Villita Historic Arts Village and Historic Market Square on your shopping list too. Not only can you find a great gift, you can also get loads on Instagram worthy pics of the family.

Wrap up the year

Welcome in 2020 with sparkle at the Kids Countdown at The DoSeum or during Celebrate SA! New Year Eve’s Celebration in Hemisfair park. Also, if you didn't get a chance yet, you still have time to take a spin on the new ice skating rink in Travis Park, which will remain open through January
