The City of San Antonio issues a national call for artists to be considered for a registry of prequalified artists known as the Capital Projects Artist Pool (CPAP). Artists interested in being reviewed for public art design and fabrication services tied to capital projects should apply. Once a year, a selection panel reviews and scores artworks that meet submittal requirements and recommends a list of artists to the Public Art Board. Ultimately, the City Council must authorize the roster of public artists. Artists in the pool will remain active for two years, after which they may reapply for consideration.
At the City’s discretion, PASA may choose to conduct a call for artists separate from the CPAP to enhance recruitment and diversity of artistic talent. In such instances, artists already included in the authorized pool will not need to reapply for consideration.
